In the fall of 2022, while honeymooning in central TN, Doug and Jennifer Rodencal where enjoying a drive thru the back country when they stumbled upon a gravel road called " Rooster Run". Laughing about the fact that Doug was always called the "Rooster" of the house, they took a chance and turned right. What they found was a landscape hand crafted by god and beauty beyond measure. The journey was one that they will always remember and the name has forever stayed , and so, Rooster Run Acres was born.
Rooster Run has an amazing history. The property originally belonged to Doug's parents Eugene and Sylvia Rodencal. In the early 1900's the railroad commissioned a line to run from Redgranite to Poy sippi. They built the railroad bed but before they could lay down the actual tracks they ran out of money right on Eugene and Sylvia's property. Neither of them knew this until the mid 1950's when a gentleman gave Gene an original ticket that had been issued for the railroad that never happened. The ticket was dated 1916 and was supposed to be for the first ride. He knew that the railroad had stopped right in Gene and Sylvia's back yard and thought it would be a great keepsake for them to have. So, there is a rail road bed that runs from the west side of the property to the center, but no tracks. It makes a great trail access and neat historical site in the county where the rail road almost got to Poy Sippi. Jens mom, Juanene, restored the old sign that Gene made and installed it at the end of the railroad grade. Fun Fact! The wedding picture above is on the rail road grade
Rooster Run sits on 67 acres of lush farm fields and low lying hunting land. The house and main sheds are situated around a beautifully landscaped yard and large pond filled with perch, blue gill and cat fish. Our garden may be small but it is mighty. It produces 2 rounds of beans and cucumbers annually as well as several varieties of peppers both hot and sweet, tomatoes, lettuce, carrots and kohlrabi. We also grow Sunflowers, pumpkins, zucchini, watermelons, asparagus and rhubarb in large patches behind the fenced in garden. Our apple orchard is only 2 years old and sits on the east side of the 3 acre yard next to the smaller of the 2 ponds. 8 young tree varieties from Wolf River to Honey Crisp keep the Honey bees plenty busy.
